champions in my heart...

opened my mailbox yesterdae n had a pleasant surprise! =)received a nice notebook fr a good old pal...e notebook had realli meaningful quotes, & reading them reminded me of my canoe days...

putting in 100% at all times (or trying to... =)....
"You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself"

when haoxia puts us thru his tough training sessions, e horrendous one-arm snatch, e "8-8-4-4-2-2", running up e super steep chinese high slope as fast as we can, paddling as fast as we can in 30-s or 1min intervals in e kallang waters (w junjie paddling beside me?!!), during each heart-thumping race...
"This is sheer intensity"

when i feel realli scared~e wind direction,e strong waves & having to rudder, capsizing and cutting my feet yet again, entering e wrong lanes during e race, having crazy opponents dat cut into ur lane/shout for no rhyme or reason, entering e wrong lane at e finishing line...
"There's no substitute for guts" &
"To win without risk is to triumph without glory"

You onli have one chance in each race~give it ur best shot!
"One chance is all you need"

No matter wat's e outcome of e race....remember:
"A trophy carries dust; memories last forever" and here's to all my friends...
"You can't measure the heart of a champion " You are all champions in my heart! =)

ps: serene, dis blog entry is for u too...thanx for all e encouragment n support during e netball days... when i was struggling and realli felt like giving up, u were there...=)

pps: mingyuan, hope u like e quotes too...think it oso applies to pole vaulting =)
ppps: and of cos, many thanx to my good old pal for her meaningful quotes =)

put a smile on my face when i read this entry. i'm glad : ) coz one might think the later committments (canoeing) might have erased some netball memory away a little. hey, think we supported each other. i remember i was crying once, and you were with me. i was pushing those big fat ropes outside the pe dept where the volley balls were kept.. of course, i rember me being with you when you were tearing once too. those were the days. ms teo's ok, she's quite a skinny bean now..
